LQM Music Review: BurningWyck, Mark Cundiff, & ‘Ensenada’

BurningWyck is a one-man-band, represented by Mark Cundiff, an independent musician from Missouri. and owner of Namaste Media, since 1996.

Mark has classified his music as falling into the Psychedelic, Jam Band, and Fusion genres. Nonetheless, his music is purely instrumental. Some of the instruments you might find on his music are electric guitars, 6- & 12-string acoustic guitars, bass guitar, and keyboards.

Recently, Mark asked me to take a listen to one of his songs, entitled, Ensenada. The first thing that struck me was the repetitive beat and rhythm of the piece. Once I finished listening to the song, I sampled a few others from his Facebook page. Each song seemed to take on the same M.O. as Ensenada, following a repetitive melody, but each one had a personality, all its own. No two songs were completely alike. Each song had a distinct, melodious foundation.

While Mark does not have any illusions about becoming a giant in the music industry, he does allow his music to represent various facets and layers of his own soul and manages enjoy success from his music, not an easy task for the smaller caliber indie artist. If you are the kind of person who likes to kick back and relax with music that will make you forget about your worries of the day, then I would strongly suggest adding Mark Cundiff and BurningWyck to your music library.
